Isaac Hayes Pusses out
Well, well, well, the nutters at the Cult of Scientology have fully taken control of yet another mortal soul. Isaac Hayes announced that he has quit the series South Park where he voiced the beloved cafeteria cook and ladies man Chef. Hayes cited his reasons for leaving with the following press statement:
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins... ...As a civil-rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practice"
Right... South Park has been disrespecting people and religious beliefs since the day it began and now after 8 years Isaac Hayes suddenly has moral objections? Bitch, Please! I think South Park co-creator Matt Stone said it best in his interview with The Associated Press when he said:
"This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology. ... He has no problem — and he's cashed plenty of checks — with our show making fun of Christians."
I am disgusted and disappointed with Mr. Hayes, the man is a hypocrite. He shouldn't have never joined the show in the first place if he had such strong moral objection to the show knocking people's religious beliefs. No, instead he is just like every other greedy bastard, he took the money and ran with it, until that is the show made fun of his own beliefs.
Yes, people remember that hilarious episode (for those of you who saw it) last year when South Park made fun of the Church of Scientology and its celebrity followers? While Isaac didn't participate in it, the episode was one of the top-rated ones of the series and the Cult of Scientology got into a snit. Me thinks they put the ball-clamps on old Isaac, hence his decision to leave. After all it looks bad on them if one of their top people is involved in a show that exposes them for what they are.
I guess when you get right down to it, Isaac's coupon for a free ride on the Alien's spaceship (when they come back to reclaim the earth that is) means more to him than freedom of expression. Hey, freedom of expression, isn't that part of the civil-rights movement's core founding values?
Your Rants & Comments
This is so fucked up! I love South Park, and being gay I'm very open for all kinds of civil rights for everyone, but my God! They're called JOKES! Besides, South Park made fun of EVERYONE! That was the beauty in it! Ugh, this is stupid as hell...
