An Unlikely Invitation
So today I received the most unlikely invitation from Daphne's mother. Apparently Daphne's niece Michelle is having her First Communion in May and the family is at a loss for bodies to fill up the specially reserved pew that they have at the front of the church. So seeing as how I am honorary family, D's mom extended me an invitation even though I'm not Catholic or even Christian for that matter.
While I find this hilarious (and so Pinoy) I am also very touched that they think so highly of me. To be honest this will be the first, First Communion I'll have ever attended. Despite growing up in the midst of Christianity I really have had little exposure to most of the celebratory rights-of-passage except for weddings that is.
This will be a very interesting experience. Though it does raise an important question for me: What DOES a Buddhist give a good Catholic girl on her First Communion?
