A Religious Experience
Last night I had a religious experience when I came home from work. It was late, almost 9 pm, and I was tired and hungry. I had gone to a birthday happy hour for a colleague and then to get my haircut. I was deciding whether or not to stay in and scrounge up something to eat or weather to just truck out again and get some take-away.
And then it happened. I turned on PBS and was awash in the ambient glow of a commercial for their film of week, which as starting in 10 minutes. The film was Yentl!! I immediately felt verklepmt and decided right then and there to stay in and eat something and watch Barbra's cinematic masterpiece. Not only does it feature the Messiah herself but it also has great nude shots (which I'm happy that PBS did not censor out—they are touchy about nudity) of a young and HOT Mandy Patinkin. It would have been a sin not to watch!!
I love Yentl. It's a beautiful and poignant film, and unlike many musicals it's very real, not glitzy or phantasmal. It doesn't feel like a musical really, more like a serious film with a lot of vocal tracks and singing. The cinematography is simple and clean and utilizes the natural sweep and expanse of the natural settings well.
Yentl is still not out on DVD yet but hopefully it will come out soon. I'm assuming PBS was using the old tape transfers of the film, but even so the image quality was sharp and bright. *sigh*
So yeah I'm a very happy Gay man right now.
Your Rants & Comments
Like we've talked about, this is a MUST BE KNOWN religious experience. We need to start working on its holiness no other time than NOW! "And this light was bright, it was bright and filled with the sacred nipple and hairy, hairy ball sack....", gotta love it! LMFAO! I'm glad you had a good time!
